‘The one’ has been away on a business trip to Moscow. I always miss his company when he is away so I thought I would cook up a storm for his homecoming. I just wanted to gently remind him what he has missed – my cooking. He is due to step in the front door at 7am. Creamy Porridge for breakfast this morning. There is something homely and comforting about porridge for breakfast in winter. I always feel as though I can go forward into the day feeling warm, cosy and heartily full. I can deal with whatever the world wants to throw at me. My method is a good old -fashioned one. I use real traditional oats…none of these quick microwave jobs for me. One cup of oats to two cups of water into a saucepan and heat gently, stirring occassionally until thick and creamy.
