Blog ArchivesBasking in the morning autumn sunshine | Breakfast at The Bathers’ Pavillion, Balmoral
‘The one’ and I have just celebrated our 25th (yes, that’s right – 25th) wedding anniversary. We decided the best way to spend the morning was to gather all five of the lil’uns and head to picturesque Balmoral beach to soak up some sunshine. Really the only way to do this is to book a table at The Bathers’ Pavillion and enjoy their delicious breakfast menu. We enjoyed the following delicious delights… It was certainly a lovely way to celebrate a momentous occasion for us. I look forward to spending another 25 years together! And as I … Continue Reading
Revisiting The Basics | Omelettes with eggs from my own hens

Yes, that’s right – THE SAME PRICE! Perhaps the little darlings did me a favour? OK, enough ranting. Now back to the task at hand. First and foremost, I would … Continue Reading
French toast with cinnamon sugar and macerated strawberries – A heartwarming and homely breakfast for a weary traveller
‘The one’ has been away on a business trip to Moscow. I always miss his company when he is away so I thought I would cook up a storm for his homecoming. I just wanted to gently remind him what he has missed – my cooking. He is due to step in the front door at 7am. So, what better for a welcome home breakfast than french toast lightly dusted with cinnamon sugar and topped with macerated strawberries. Surely the way to a man’s heart? Once the french toast has been lightly dusted with the cinnamon sugar, place the bread on a plate. Decorate … Continue Reading
Good morning
Creamy Porridge for breakfast this morning. There is something homely and comforting about porridge for breakfast in winter. I always feel as though I can go forward into the day feeling warm, cosy and heartily full. I can deal with whatever the world wants to throw at me. My method is a good old -fashioned one. I use real traditional oats…none of these quick microwave jobs for me. One cup of oats to two cups of water into a saucepan and heat gently, stirring occassionally until thick and creamy. Sometimes I let the porridge simmer for up to half an hour, stirring and … Continue Reading
